Time-Matters UK Zoom Time ONLINE SUPPORT GROUPS
Online Peer Support Groups for Children and Young Adults

Since the global outbreak of the Coronavirus, we now run support groups online. These are a chance for children and young people to stay connected, catch up, play games discuss feelings and experiences and contribute their ideas on informing policy and practice at a national and international level.

See ‘Children as Leaders and Changemakers’ .

Having Fun and Staying Connected

In the groups our focus is on connection, having fun and learning new skills. Examples of activities include games, quizzes, art and craft, crazy science, dance, and drama.

Online Support Groups
BENEFITS INCLUDE:

Children and young people can access the support from home without having to travel.

Children and young people increase their confidence and communication skills by engaging in group interaction.

At the end of online sessions we often award at least one child who attends an award and / or prize.

Children and young people realise they are not the ‘only one’ with a parent in prison or a parent who has been to prison.

Children and young people access a wide range of specialist online youth practitioners who share ideas for activities the Children and young people can do in the session and at home (art, craft, dance, drama, forest school, crazy science, music etc).

Keeping It Light

Although we do a feelings and ‘any news’ check in, we do not explore sensitive or personal matters due the nature of the setting. If children need someone to talk to online but away from a group setting, we will try and match the child with a 1:1 mentor. Please do ask if you feel this might help your child.
